Expect to get what you pay for. There are differences in all component parts that make up trophies. Figures and trim can vary in the quality of detail and color. Bases will vary in weight and finish. Columns are available in many colors and styles, and almost all are similar in quality. "Trophy" prices are pretty competitive, so they are usually the lowest profit margin area of any awards shop. For a single column trophy, expect to pay anywhere from $1.00 to $1.50 per finished inch, and that should include a personalized plate. Anything less than that, you may, or may not, be getting a good deal.
I have had people say "Last year I didn't pay anywhere near that price." So and So gave them a really good deal. When I ask why they don't go back there, the normal response is "They aren't there anymore." Duh! If a business doesn't charge enough to make a profit, they won't be in business very long. I compete on Selection, Quality, and Service.
Tell me again why you want to pay $3.50 for the trophy on the left rather than pay only $5.00 for the trophy on the right!?! |
